Dogon Peapod Fetish, Iron purse Irregular 10-11mm diameter with 3-4mmAntique pendant in the shape of a pea pod with loop. These were worn as a "Skirt" by men, a strand covering private parts, a phallic symbol. Mixed metals, mostly iron, fairly rusty and crude. Estimated age is mid late 1800's. Each piece is unique, averaging 3 inches long x 10mm diameter with large 10 12mm loop. A protection for men, and a sexual enhancement. Sold individually, quite rare! Some are open pea pods, others are closed.
