1937 Vierge Doree Golden Virgin Sculpture Amiens Church - ORIGINAL CH2 XGCA6 This is an original 1911This is an original 1937 photogravure of the Amiens Cathedral (Cathdrale Notre Dame d'Amiens) in France (Rpublique Francaise). The photogravure shows the Golden Virgin (Vierge Dore) on the south transept. Mary was gilded with gold until the 18th century. The cathedral is the tallest complete cathedral in the country, and overlooks the Somme river. Amiens Cathedral is known for its 13th century Gothic sculptures. Construction began in 1220, and the
