C.); British War and Victory Medals (49958 Pte. A. W. Thornton. R. A. M. C.), very fine. Albert William Thornton first saw service overseas in France from 25 July 1915, (attached to the 54th Field Ambulance and 44 CCS) having attested in January that year, aged 34. Surviving the war, he lived with his wife in Walworth, south London.
