1872 Wood Engraving Poinsinet William Makepeace Tackeray Coward French XGCA9 XEC2 This is an original 1954This is an original 1872 black and white wood engraving of a sketch by English novelist William Makepeace Thackeray (1811 1863) entitled "Poinsinet in Disguise." Poinsinet was a short, proud, and foolish man. He was so annoying that his friends regularly played cruel tricks on him, such as getting him to believe he killed a man, hiring a magician to make Poinsinet believe he had become invisible (which was a huge hit at parties), and generally making
