amplified by the color and attention paid to their gloves and shorts

On the reverse it is signed by a David Schultz in blue ink and dated 1860 (along with numbers running 1 9 first forwards then backwards) suggesting perhaps that its maker was in fact David and perhaps that it was made to mark the birth or life of
