And one one side is a slightly recessed circle showing white--the surface is solid there so if it was some sort of putty repairing a hole it has long since hardened

I'd guess this great carved wood head was once part of a puppet of some sort

dates to the early 20th century

I find these completely charming in every regard, perhaps best of all the hand painted identifications, here distinguishing the White from the White Faced Ibises. Clearly invested with much love, and bird knowledge! I think a pair of Ibises is a very good thing, so am listing as a pair. Each 7" x 5 1 8" and in good condition. Watercolor and graphite on paper.
