This is an excellent condition totally genuine World War One issue German gas mask. This model of Gasschutzmaske (Gas Protection Mask) was introduced in 1917, and was known as the Ledermaske due to its leather body construction. Canvas straps on the back of the mask were used to attach it to the wearer's head. The leather on this example is still soft, and the canvas rigging is in good shape but very worn. The mask
