Both panels comprise of four leather sections mounted on board with an oil painted, tooled and worked surfaces. Remarkable surface detail throughout. Portugese , late 18th Century. Signed P. B. to one panel. The panels originated from a family member at Soldon Manor, Devon. The Battle of Cannae was a key engagement of the Second Punic War between the Roman Republic and Carthage.
